It doesn’t always have to be black and white.

Having trouble coming up with a color scheme for your next project? With so many colors to choose from, it can be easy to stick to your favorites. Color schemes are everywhere, so don't be afraid to look around for inspiration.

Finding color from a photograph

Next time you are looking through a magazine, take a closer look at the photos. Are there color schemes in there that you can pull from? How about your personal photos? Landscape photos always have great colors to work with.

Basically, anything that catches your eye can be used for a future color scheme. Here's a list of items that I've turned to in the past for inspiration:

  1. Fabrics
  2. Photos
  3. My favorite coffee mug
  4. Food - both on my plate and in magazines

There are also several sites that post hundreds of color schemes for you to choose from. Here are my favorites:

  1. colourlovers.com
  2. kuler.adobe.com
  3. colorjack.com

Good luck! You might just find a new favorite color.
