Never Quit Quitting.
by Chantelle
I’ve got a million other things to do…I really should sort my inbox…my desk looks messy, maybe I should organize it…
And the dreaded procrastination process begins for me. Sadly, I know I’m guilty of procrastinating, but nothing so far has made me quit. I am NOT a quitter! This blog was due two weeks ago, but I kept pushing it to the bottom of my to-do list for several reasons:
- Writing isn’t my specialty. Not convinced yet? Keep reading.
- Blogging doesn’t come easy to me.
- Narrowing down a topic is like telling me to pick my favorite color - it’s never ending.
After doing some research, I found that I’m not alone. In fact, some sites stated that “everyone” has procrastinated at some point in their life. Whew - a “you are normal” reassurance always sucks me in!
So for those of you who are fed up with missing deadlines or having late night cramming sessions, here are some tips I collected to help you quit procrastinating:
- Suck it up. Unless you find a great excuse as to why you cannot possibly handle the task you have to do, just get it over with.
- Find something interesting about the task to motivate you to work on it. Who knows, it could even be the feeling of crossing the job off your list that makes you work harder to get the job done.
- Do something. Even if you’re not sure exactly what you SHOULD be doing, I’ve learned that doing something is better than doing nothing.
Look for my next blog on October 10 or 11…
(Editor’s note: This blog was submitted 12 days past deadline, which clearly demonstrates the author’s expertise in the subject area.)
