Banner Ads

We all have seen them. Sometimes (and more often than not), they are those cleverly designed boxes above, below, or to the side of our favorite Web pages. Sometimes (unfortunately), they are those awfully annoying pop-ups that prevent us from seeing what we visited the Web site to see in the first place.

Best Things in Life are Free … Really?

For a whole host of reasons – the lousy economy being the first one to come to mind – many different businesses are offering their products or services for insanely cheap, or even free, in some cases. For example, T.G.I. Friday’s sold select appetizers for five cents (with a purchase of a drink) on Cinco de Mayo. And Kentucky Fried Chicken and Oprah teamed up to offer a free grilled chicken dinner with coupon. The debacle ended up with several customers being turned away from KFC restaurants for a variety of reasons.

The Power of Facebook

All it took was a group of students and a dream … and a very persuasive Facebook group. But the inaugural graduation class of the University of California, Merced, was able to persuade first lady Michelle Obama to speak at commencement ceremonies this spring.
