Don’t get me wrong, it’s an amazing device and I really, really want to love it. It’s sleek and beautiful and I’d wrap one up in my arms in mere seconds if given the chance. But I’m just not convinced that I NEED the iPad. If I already have a laptop and an iPhone, is there really a need for me to have one? Here’s the quick list of the features that have me drooling, but somehow still hesitant to whip out my credit card and order one:

1. 9.7-inch LCD touch-screen display – No more squinting to read emails and look at websites! My eyes will thank you, Apple!

2. iPhone apps run on it – Meaning I don’t have to start all over with another system. I’d be lying if I don’t admit that I’m curious to hear how the fart app would play on the iPad. Playing that app in staff meetings may eventually get me fired, but it’s well worth it!

3. Larger keyboard – I don’t have to feel like an awkward giant anymore!

4. iWork – These apps are selling for only $10 each and include: Keynote, Numbers and Pages. I’m thinking these have great potential for client meetings.

5. Gaming – Hey, we all need breaks, right? I say Bring on the Need for Speed – anything to get me pumped up for my daily commute home!

Even after that list of drool-worthy features, I’m still finding it hard to go gaga over the iPad. And I’m truly sad about that! Apple, please prove me wrong!

What are your thoughts on the new iPad? I wanna hear the good and the bad on this one!

1. Motorola’s Backflip Android Device – While I would almost place any betting money on the iPhone winning the smart phone wars, I do look forward to seeing more competition in this arena. I think we’ll see several strong contenders in 2010, including the recently released Nexus One.
2. 3D TV – In my heart, I’m nothing more than a couch potato. I even ended up buying myself a Snuggie recently. My ideal Friday night is pizza and a marathon of Cheaters. (That show is hilarious.) So yeah, I’m really excited about 3D TV. Granted, the idea has been around for some time, but considering how many new models are being showcased at CES, it’s shaping up to become much more mainstream.
3. This see-through laptop – Samsung created a laptop with no special features other than a transparent screen. Huh? I don’t understand why you would want one of these … but it looks really cool and can also lead the way to new, more relevant technologies.
4. This Android-powered smartbook – I just think this is cool.

And, of course, I am looking forward to all things Apple.

Any new gadgets being unveiled at CES 2010 that you’re looking forward to seeing?

However, as more phone manufacturers begin to perk up and encroach on what was Blackberry’s domain, executives at Apple quickly began to realize that in today’s world, consumers are demanding higher quality products for less. This led to yesterday’s announcement of the next generation of iPhones, as well as the news that the previous generation’s prices would be slashed to $99. (The new phones will be sold from $199 to $299.)

1. Ashton Kutcher. We totally helped him beat CNN in the race to one million fans.
2. Google. O’Neill Communications uses a variety of Google services, including the Calendar and Analytics functions. We follow them on Twitter to learn of their NEWEST innovations, which not only helps us to be a great asset to our clients, but … we just like knowing things before anyone else.
3. macTweeter. O’Neill Communications also uses Apple products – we follow them on Twitter to make sure we’re up-to-date on technology.
4. Any news agency. ABC, CNN, FOX … we check news outlets constantly so that we always keep our clients up-to-speed on what’s going on in the world and in their particular market.
5. Martha Stewart. (Because O’Neill staff member Carly loves her.)
